Spring is truly here for me with the first inhalation of the crisp, heady scent of someone's home-garden friesias. Heaven.

.... reflections of old ...
A sash window in Outram's former bank, built in 1869-70, and after the demise of the Bank of Otago in 1873, managed for the National Bank of New Zealand by William Larnach - of Larnach Caslte fame.
The bank operated in Outram until 1957-58 when it was sold and has since been used as a family home, bicycle sales and repair business and now antiques and treasure trove.
Reflected is the historic Outram Hotel - still a watering hole for Taieri Plains locals, and SH87 travellers en-route to Central Otago and the rail-trail.

Sunday's photo had to be from "the wedding".... a glorious day, beautiful setting at Stoneridge Estate overlooking lake Hayes and a backdrop of the Alps - not that anyone was really looking at the Alps!

A big day of gardening ended with a divine lamb tagine, dry riesling and conversation recalling exotic travels .... and how my host acquired the delightful silver, hand-made candle-holders at a celebratory dinner in Morocco .....

One Second
And the 2013 challenge begins ....
A gorgeous creative friend at a New Year pool party reminded me the "picture a day" has already been done .... but what hasn't been?

A gorgeous creative friend at a New Year pool party reminded me the "picture a day" has already been done .... but what hasn't been?
In the end I guess my challenge is to let go whatever limits my potential .... in which case maybe just about any and all ideas are worth giving a go.
We came up with "one second" .... for kick-off, so NOT being a keen tripod user, I hand held my Nikon D300S for a "one second" photo at midnight, 1 January 2013.
From the balcony of a Freemans Bay villa we looked out over rooftops and chimneys to Auckland's Sky Tower exploding it's celebratory fireworks.
My first email for 2013, at 2am, was from dear friends living in Grand Cayman Island who had just watched the same fireworks on BBC television news, New Zealand being the first to cheer in the new year.....
